The Christmas Season is in full swing, and rightfully so!
Decorations are going up, black Friday, cyber Monday, 12 days of Christmas and much more! But if you celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, and you have accepted His gift of salvation, Christmas has to lead to more!
Check this out from 1 Corinthians 1:7-9 :
“Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Did you hear that? “Now you have every spiritual gift you need” ALL GLORY TO GOD!
But what are they?
Salvation through Jesus’s shed blood for all!
Romans 5:8-10 Spiritual Gift
Another gift for followers of Christ, Resurrection power Romans 6:4-5 Spiritual Gift
As children of God, through belief and faith in the shed blood of Jesus and His resurrection, we have been given the seal of His Holy Spirit! This gives us wisdom, discernment, leading, encouragement, and many more gifts, 2 Corinthians 1:22 Spiritual Gift
GLORY TO GOD we have all the spiritual gifts we need.
So what’s next?
“As you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ”
At Christmas, we celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ as a baby in a manger to be the Messiah, the Savior.
And it is right that we do!
In our home we have a Christmas count-down on the wall letting us know how many days until Christmas.
Believe me, the anticipation builds every day as Christmas gets closer! But are we eagerly waiting for His 2nd coming?
How is your anticipation for His second coming?
Let me say it this way,
The Bible, the word of God, said, the Messiah was coming as a child in Bethlehem, with a noticeable star in the sky and it happened. Merry Christmas!
The Word of God also says Jesus is coming again in a twinkling of an eye for His bride, for His people!
Remember what it said in the Scripture,”God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says.”
At the time of Jesus’s birth in Bethlehem, the small town was inhabited by approximately 8000 people.
Counting Joseph and Mary, along with the shepherds that showed up that night at the birth of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, our future Savior, we can estimate about 12-15 humans witnessed this.
Let this sink in. We can’t be asleep! If Christmas is truly to be celebrated, then His second coming is to be eagerly anticipated!
Let us not be found focusing so much on the past victories that we forget the truth of His second coming for all of us for all eternity!
There is a great song that really bring this challenge to light, check it out.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as we are one more year, month, or day to His glorious return for us!
