- Are you part of a local church? You are needed! This is a fantastic opportunity for your church family to come and love on families by volunteering; passing out Bibles; manning the prayer station; or helping with hot dogs / popcorn / snow cones, face painting; and more. Contact JP about participating!
- Are you a community service provider? You are needed! This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to serve families from all over Hillsborough County. In the past we have had organizations help with food, supplies, insurance, housing, dental, shower trailer, homelessness, and much more. We have had interpreters available to help with those who speak Russian, Spanish, Creole, and the hearing impaired. Contact JP about participating!
- Are you involved in your local school? You are needed! Hope for Tampa is a tremendous opportunity for families in your school to come to a free event, and take advantage of so many free resources. Can you help us get the word out? Contact JP about participating!
What is Hope for Tampa? This event is a partnership between Faith Tampa Bay, Hillsborough County Schools, local churches and more than 30 community resource vendors.
What is the mission? We invite families with needs to come to a central, Hillsborough County school location to meet with people who can help meet those needs, and in many cases share the love of Christ in the process. And, it’s working. We praise God that at our most recent Hope for Tampa event (held this past May) we had an estimated 1,600 people in attendance.
It aligns so perfectly with our overall vision. We began with an idea to meet a need. We learned that kids were going home stressed about food. We learned that this was most obvious over fall break, Christmas, spring break and finally the long summer. We learned that for many students, the meals they we getting at school were the only meals they were getting. We knew we had to do something.
We approached some of our amazing local church partners, and together we came to see a Hope for Tampa event as one possible solution.
We held our first event, and this led to Hillsborough County Schools inviting us to host multiple events throughout the year at rotating locations and on dates that line up with those school breaks.
As a result, our community can know that there are neighbors who care about them and want to help!
